In 2007, when four close family members were diagnosed with breast cancer within a seven month period, we were faced with the harsh reality that 1:2 men and 1:3 women will be diagnosed with cancer over the course of his or her lifetime. Both at a loss on how to grapple with the situation, we decided to meet it head on by raising money for cancer research and subsequent treatment by starting Swing Fore Hope, a 501 (C)3 non-profit organization. Our main event is a golf tournament held at Sunset Hills Country Club in Edwardsville, Illinois each year with 100% of the proceeds going towards cancer research and education.
Since its creation, Swing Fore Hope has collectively donated $70,000 to The American Cancer Society and The Siteman Cancer Center in St. Louis, Missouri. We are determined to make a difference.
In 2010, Swing Fore Hope will continue to benefit The Siteman Cancer Center of St. Louis and has teamed up with The LIVESTRONG Foundation to add survivorship support to its benefits.
We would greatly appreciate your support in making 2010 our most successful year to date.
With sincere thanks,
Brett and Julie Gilliland
